When an unsuccessful ice sports arena was auctioned to a former National Hockey League player, Cahoon & Cross was asked by the new owner to re-introduce the facility to the community, give it a new identity, and establish it as the region’s premier ice sports complex.

Cahoon & Cross developed a fabulous bright orange and blue logo and tagline that set the tone for the facility, along with public relations, promotion, and media plans to announce the new ownership. The front of the building was painted with their signature colors, a new sign was put on the front of the building, and hanging banner signs were put on the light poles in the parking lot. Eight weeks after the facility was purchased, Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex held its ice breaking celebration. Over 8,500 people walked through the doors that weekend. The mayor rode into the ceremony on the ice resurfacing machine, and figure skaters and hockey players joined in a festive parade of colors. View Collateral

More Than Skating Along
The new identity has successfully distanced the complex from its previous ownership and made Chilled Ponds a sports destination for teams and leagues throughout the mid-Atlantic. The facility has consistently hosted tournaments and camps throughout the summer, and Pepsi and a local hotelier have each bought the naming rights to the facility’s two rinks.
