Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) wanted to develop marketing materials to support its newly formed advertising sales division. Prior to the merger
of Pentran, the Peninsula transit company, and TRT, the Southside transit company, each company had marketed only its half of Hampton Roads.
After the merger, HRT created an advertising sales division whose sole mission was to join Hampton Roads’ television, radio and outdoor
media in marketing to advertisers desiring to cover the entire market.
Putting
Them In The Driver’s
Seat
Cahoon & Cross conducted a national advertising study to research competitive transit advertising trends and recommended the creation of
a sales kit equal to those used in the top media markets. The new kit featured images, graphics and information covering all of Hampton Roads
and profiled the Hampton Roads population, economy and lifestyle, as well as the specifics on HRT’s advertising products. View Collateral
Stepping On The Gas
HRT set its sights on national advertising agencies and advertisers across the U.S. who were selecting major media markets for advertising.
With its new kit, HRT was able to sell Hampton Roads, as well as its own transit advertising capabilities, for the first time.
