Working with Nationwide Corporate and Nationwide Regional Sales Leadership in North Carolina, Cahoon & Cross helped design a supporting "bug tag" to be used on marketing pieces which illustrated the state's dominance in the market for a substantial period of time. Combining the elements related to the success, Cahoon & Cross effectively brought to life a descriptive, informative, graphically pleasing and brand compliant element that would quickly identify Nationwide as the leading auto insurer in the state of North Carolina for the past 20 years.
Each year, Cahoon & Cross buys more than 156 outdoor ads for agents within our five states. Using Nationwide corporate brand elements, we customize art for individual agents. Billboard locations are strategically purchased to maximize our agents' exposure within their home towns and communities. Most boards post for a minimum of 30 days, but many are part of a larger co-op marketing plan that offers agents the chance to change creative after eight weeks in order to target specific initiatives.
Searchable Online Agent Database
In order to maximize the power of group buying for the more than 850 agents within our co-op markets, Cahoon & Cross developed the first searchable, multi-co-op database for Nationwide. Launched in 2009, and housed at www.findmylocalagent.com, the database serves as a landing page for traditional online button and banner advertising targeted for localization to agent specific areas. Once a visitor enters the requested information, behind-the-scenes programming gathers results to deliver the user a selection of agents servicing that particular market. The user can then click on the agent information and be taken to the selected agent's website where the user can learn more information about a product or fill out an online quote request.
Cahoon & Cross places more than 5,000 print ads for our co-op agents each year. Our relationship with publications across the Eastern region has allowed us to maximize co-op dollars while providing agents with the exposure within their selling markets. Our in-house Creative Services team modifies Nationwide Corporate artwork to build supporting ads that run in newspapers, magazines and trade publications for our agents. We track agent information through a proprietary client database designed to house specific advertising requirements for each and every agent.
Cahoon & Cross was asked to help Nationwide Corporate launch its expanded Agency Marketing Program (AMP) in late 2009. The program — which allows agents access to non-traditional advertising mediums — required in-depth market research, vendor identification and selection and customized creative design. Cahoon & Cross researched industry vendors, reviewed their offerings and provided Nationwide with "preferred" vendors that were the best of the best. For the creative, Cahoon & Cross used Nationwide Corporate artwork to design templates for pizza box flyers, coffee/beverage cups and school sports signage that agents could customize to build their own local marketing campaigns.
